Should I really use an oil in my skincare routine ?

The relationship between applying oil and skin becoming more oily is a common concern, but it's important to understand how oils interact with the skin. Not all oils will make your skin more oily. In fact, using the right kind of facial oil can balance and even regulate the skin's natural oil production.

This is because when the skin is too dry, it can overcompensate by producing excess sebum, which leads to oiliness. Applying a suitable oil can provide the necessary moisture and signal the skin to produce less of its own oil. Non-comedogenic oils like jojoba, argan, and rosehip are often recommended for their ability to hydrate without clogging pores.

However, it's crucial to choose oils that are appropriate for your skin type and to apply them in moderation. As with any skincare products you should be aware of the ingredients within the product and what they are doing to the skin, if you are unsure of a ingredient or a product, please book a consultation and bring the product with you.

Additionally, incorporating facial oils into a skincare routine can offer numerous other benefits beyond just balancing oil production.

Many oils are rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids, which can help protect the skin from environmental damage, reduce inflammation, and promote a healthy glow. For instance, rosehip oil is renowned for its ability to improve skin tone and texture, thanks to its high content of vitamin A and essential fatty acids.

Meanwhile, tea tree oil is well-known for its antimicrobial properties, making it a popular choice for those struggling with acne-prone skin. Which is a perfect combination between LEad treatments within the salon and a good homecare routine.

When selecting an oil for your skincare regimen, it’s important to consider not only your skin type but also the particular concerns you wish to address.

Ultimately, the key to successfully integrating oils into your skincare routine lies in experimentation and attentiveness to how your skin responds. Start with small amounts and gradually increase usage, paying close attention to any changes. With the right approach, facial oils can be a valuable tool in achieving a healthy, radiant complexion.

My favourite oil which many of my facial clients now love to is the multi oil from BeautyLab which is a brilliant oil to then include into your skincare routine.

You can shop all BeautyLab products on our online shop, if you need any advise in regards to products or treatments themselves - Book a consultation and we can discuss this along with look at your skin to work out what’s best for your skin and needs.
